Abstract
This paper, entitled ‘Wired for Success: Sweden’s Electrical Innovators in the Age of Industrial Transformation,’ explores the life courses of Swedish innovators during the first half of the 20th century, focusing on the impact of early exposure to new technologies on their innovative success. The study makes use of the comprehensive biographical resource ‘Vem är Vem?’ to extract and analyze data related to the lives and achievements of these innovators. Moreover, the paper highlights the application of cutting-edge technologies, such as Chat-GPT, to facilitate the extraction, structuring, and analysis of this information. By examining the connection between formative experiences and technological innovation, this study aims to offer valuable insights into the development of Sweden’s electrical industry during a critical period of industrial transformation. The paper presentation will provide an overview of the methods used, as well as the broader implications of these tools for the modern economic historian.
